Types of silencers
Air treatment and ventilation systems often involve the movement of a gaseous medium (in many cases air), which is pumped through ducts and pipes. This flow produces turbulence that, together with the noise of the ventilators themselves, often results in noise nuisance. Such noise nuisance can be reduced using acoustic silencers, often referred to as noise silencers or attenuators.
ISOPARTNER Netherlands offers three types of silencer: round silencers, baffle silencers and blow-off silencers.
Round silencer
Round silencers are mainly used to absorb the sound of gases that flow at low velocities. These silencers are mainly suitable for medium and high-frequency sounds and are usually installed between pipes.
The round silencer can be supplied with or without a sound-absorbent core. Various finishes and material options are also available.
Baffle silencer
SONODAMP baffle silencers remove the sound energy from the air flow. This happens in the baffles. Combinations of absorption-resonance baffles can also be used depending on the degree of required silencing. Baffle silencers are also suitable for high flow velocities and for a wider frequency range.
Special baffle dampers are available for air flows with high relative humidity, high temperatures and for other types of gases.
Blow-off silencer
These silencers can be used when steam and gases are blown off under pressure in the chemical and other industries. This often creates high noise levels, which the blow-off silencer can reduce to acceptable levels.
Blow-off silencers are supplied in stainless steel as standard, but other materials are also available. When high silencing values are required, the silencer can be fitted with a specially designed casing.
This is an acoustic silencer or attenuator that reduces the noise level created when air and other gases flow through pipes and ducts.
Our silencers work on the principle of absorption.
Silencers are used in situations in which noise nuisance is created by pipe systems for air handling, ventilation and extraction of gases.
